A Ministry of Caring
The Christian ministry of the Health Center staff and volunteers is a very important ingredient in the lives of the elderly, their families, and friends as they face a critical time in their lives. This ministry of loving care is our response for what Christ has done for us. Our goal is to help the elderly retain their dignity and self-esteem by encouraging independence and by providing creative approaches to care within a secure and stimulating Christian environment.

Resident Rooms
The 100 beds within the Health Center include 80 skilled care beds and 20 shelter care beds. Each individually decorated room is fully equipped with a bed, chest of drawers, nightstand, chair, and adequate space for clothing and personal items. Residents are encouraged to bring their favorite chair, reading lamp, pictures, or other items that create a home like atmosphere.

Levels of Care
The Health Center is licensed for both skilled and shelter care by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Of the 80 skilled care beds 16 are private and 64 are semi-private. In order to accommodate the varying care requirements of our residents, each resident is assessed upon admission and monthly to determine the appropriate level of care.

Nursing Services
Our Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Nursing Assistants provide 24 hour coverage to both the skilled and shelter care areas. The focus is on a holistic approach including a plan of care that meets not only the residents' physical needs, but their mental, emotional, spiritual, and social needs as well.

Therapy & Rehabilitation
Our specially trained rehabilitation staff provides services to all residents as part of our daily nursing program. In addition, specialized physical therapy and occupational therapy are available for those residents recovering from an illness or injury

Dining
The dietary department provides a variety of menu selections to our residents. This includes a buffet line and salad bar in a pleasant dining atmosphere. The dietary and nursing staffs work closely together in preparing special diets as prescribed by the physician.

Chaplaincy
An emphasis is placed on our residents' spiritual needs, which are addressed through nondenominational chapel services and religious activities. Sunday morning services are held weekly by our chaplaincy staff. Additionally, our staff and volunteers are available for scripture reading, prayer, or counseling.

Social Services
Our Director of Social Services relates closely with residents and their families to help them adjust to the Health Center. Contacts made during this transition continue as the social service staff assists residents with day-to-day concerns, problems, and needs. Special efforts are made to keep the family members involved in their loved one's plan of care.

Activities
The activity department strives to meet our residents' needs through extensive programming geared to each individual’s level of functioning. We welcome family members and friends to participate in activities along with the resident.

Intergenerational Program
Special relationships are formed between the children of Noah’s Ark Children's Center and the residents. This unique concept has proved rewarding to both the elderly and the young.

Housekeeping
Our kind and courteous housekeeping staff works hard to keep the Health Center clean and odor free. An in-house laundry is used to wash all linens as well as residents' personal clothing.

Additional Services
include pharmacy, podiatry, laboratory services, an in-house beauty shop, eyeglass adjustment, and hearing aid fitting and servicing.
