Health Center
The Christian ministry of the Health Center staff and volunteers is a very important ingredient in the lives of the residents, their families and friends. The ministry of loving care is our response for what Christ has done for us. Our goal is to help the elderly retain their dignity and self-respect by encouraging independence and by providing creative approaches to care within a secure and stimulating Christian environment.

Grandparents Day
At Maple Lawn we focus on a holistic approach to care that meets not only the residents' physical needs, but also their mental, emotional, spiritual and social needs. Medical services available include intravenous, physical, occupational and speech therapy. The staff assists the elderly to recover from an illness or injury and to retain their dignity and self-respect by encouraging independence. The unique inter-generational program between the residents and the children from Noah's Ark Children's Center has proven rewarding for both the elderly and the young.

Ronald McDonald Visits
The 118 bed Health Center has 89 skilled care beds and 29 shelter care beds, a form of assisted living licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health. All of the skilled beds are certified to provide Medicare Part A coverage.

Comforts of Home - Supported Living Services - is an important part of the continuum of care at Maple Lawn. Located on the lower level of the Health Center, these residents can ambulate or transfer themselves.

A Certified Nurse Assistant willingly helps with weekly whirlpools and regular checks of the residents. A licensed nurse on duty 24 hours a day dispenses medication. Meals are served in the main dining room. Laundry and housekeeping are also provided as well as a variety of activities.

Spiritual Care

Doug Hicks
Our residents' spiritual needs are a deep concern as evidenced by our two chaplains on staff. They visit with all residents to assist with any spiritual needs as well as leading Sunday morning worship services. Area pastors assist with the Wednesday afternoon chapel service.

The Catholic community provides weekly communion calls for those of the Catholic faith, as well as monthly Mass. A monthly LCMS communion service is also offered. Many area churches make regular visits to the Maple Lawn residents.

Bob Harnish

Individual memorial services are offered following the death of a resident. These services help other residents, staff and family members in the grieving process as they remember and celebrate the resident who has passed away. The chaplains work closely with the families to insure a personal and meaningful service.

Social Services

Karen Nafziger
Social Services relates closely with residents and their families to help them adjust to the Health Center. Contacts made during this transition continue as the social service staff assists residents with day-to-day concerns, psychosocial issues, discharge planning, and community referrals. Special efforts are made to keep family members involved in their loved one's plans of care.
The primary Social Services contact is Karen Nafziger. Please feel free to contact her via e-mail or call 309.467.9016 with any questions.
